La Voz de la Frontera (opens in a new tab) headlined its story “Convención numismática de Mexicali orientará sobre billetes y monedas antiguas” (“Mexicali’s numismatic convention will offer guidance on old notes and coins”). The body of that story was not in view. The program below comes from the COTUCO Mexicali notice (opens in a new tab), published on 30 October 2026 and dated the 29th, and from El Imparcial (opens in a new tab) (Said Morones, 29 October 2026). It is not a Notofilia fair.
Casa de la Cultura, 13 to 15 November
The second Numismatic Convention of the Northern District is announced for 13, 14, and 15 November 2026, at the Casa de la Cultura de Mexicali, Avenida Francisco I. Madero at the corner of Ignacio Altamirano, in the central district. Admission is free. The notice and El Imparcial open the doors from 10:00 to 19:00 on all three days. It is organized by the Mexicali Tourism and Conventions Committee (COTUCO) and the Sociedad Numismática del Distrito Norte (SONUDNORTE).
The program
The notice counts 40 exhibitors, buying, selling, and showing coins and notes from different periods. It adds two talks on coins and notes of the world, a display of coins and medals with sporting elements, and two workshops for girls and boys of 12, on Saturday and Sunday, with limited places. El Imparcial describes those workshops as aimed at children up to 12. It adds a display of pieces with World Cup motifs and the presentation of the second replica of a revolutionary-era note. Among the guests, the notice names the writer Ricardo de León Tallavas, a historian and researcher of the monetary history of Mexico and Latin America.
Alejandro Bretón Mora, president of the society, tells El Imparcial that there will be pieces from different periods and countries, and exhibitors from Mexico and the United States buying and selling. Miguel Ángel Torres Sánchez, the state tourism delegate in Mexicali, speaks of the meeting as a family outing. The first edition, in November 2025, is put by the notice at about 1,200 people. El Imparcial says it passed 1,200.
For details, the notice points to the society’s social accounts, to sonudnorte.org, and to the phone number 686 216 9716. It is signed by María de los Ángeles Murillo Flores, COTUCO’s director. Also at the presentation were María del Carmen Posada Gallego, chair of the committee, Martín Bect, secretary, and Teodoro Medina Casiano, treasurer.
