Bimetallic coin

Bimetálica

A coin struck with a core and a ring of different metals — for example nickel-silver and brass — so the colour contrast and the two-piece fit deter counterfeiting. In Colombia the 1993 500-peso piece (Law 31) is the first circulating bimetallic.
