The note
The Series 2003 $2 (Pick 516, Friedberg 1937-H*) is a small-size Federal Reserve Note of the St. Louis district: a black seal with H, 8s in the four inner corners, and the bank legend “FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF ST. LOUIS MISSOURI.” The black face with green seal and serials carries Thomas Jefferson and, at right, the Treasury seal over TWO. The signatures are Rosario Marin and John W. Snow; the printed series, 2003, sits beside the Secretary. Green serials H00010418★ repeat at lower left and upper right (H★ block). Plate marks are D3 at upper left and FW D 1 at lower right: the FW prefix identifies the Fort Worth plant. The green back reproduces John Trumbull’s Declaration of Independence, with IN GOD WE TRUST under the scene. This collection piece is slabbed by PMG as Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ; certificate 2458873-047 records serial H00010418*, Fr. 1937-H*, Marin | Snow | FW signatures, plate position D, and the pedigree “Rickey Collection” printed on the label. It is neither an ordinary district-H $2 nor the Minneapolis circulation star.
Scarcity and printage
Series 2003 $2 notes — Marin–Snow signatures, printed at Fort Worth — were not everyday paper from all twelve districts. USPaperMoney.Info records ordinary circulation only at Minneapolis (I): 121,600,000 notes and 3,840,000 stars in two runs, and notes that the BEP also printed some stars for collector sales. A Numismatic News archive report describes the BEP sale of stars from all twelve districts, with serials under 16000, at $9.95 each; the twelve-note matching-serial set had already sold out. A compilation of BEP products, citing Daniel Wishnatsky in Paper Money Values (November–December 2008), places 2,000 premium sets — serials 00000001* through 00002100* — and individual notes from 0002101* to 00016000*, up to 16,000 per district. This record does not treat those figures as an official BEP table. Serial H00010418★ falls in the individual-sale band, not in the first numbers of the matched set. It is neither the Minneapolis circulation star nor an ordinary district-H $2.
Population
PMG publishes population reports for Federal Reserve Notes, but the specific Fr. 1937-H* grade-64 EPQ headcount has not been independently verified here. This page records certificate 2458873-047 and the grade printed on the holder, not a census total.
