The Banrep Cultural (opens in a new tab) page, checked on 9 October 2026, announces the lecture “Acuñaciones con platino en Colombia: contexto, antecedentes e hipótesis”, by Andrés Langebaek, a researcher in Colombian economic history and numismatics. It is set for Thursday 19 November 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The format is listed as virtual, the price as free, and the associated place as Bogotá’s Museo Casa de Moneda. The stated audience is adults and researchers. The medal it discusses is not in Notofilia’s virtual collection.

The 1808 medal

The text starts from the recent acquisition of a proclamation medal of Ferdinand VII, made in platinum in Popayán in 1808. The talk follows the history and the difficulty of working that metal in Colombia: techniques of pre-Columbian Pacific societies, including sintering and shaping by heat and hammer, and later attempts to melt platinum for medals and coinage. The summary puts it as the relations among metallurgy, territory, technical knowledge, mining, and numismatics. The page publishes no weight, diameter, or inventory number.

The activity note says “Conéctate en el enlace” (“Join at the link”). On 9 October that link was empty. The same page still carries a generic concert-ticket block for the Luis Ángel Arango Library, with a box office and TuBoleta. In the talk’s own fields, the activity is marked virtual and free. The way in is the lecture page.
