A 1995 10,000-peso note with serial 00000676, listed at COP 580,000

Pulzo (12 September 2026) reports a Colecciones El Dorado listing: a Colombian 10,000-peso note of 1995, with Policarpa Salavarrieta and serial 00000676, offered at COP 580,000 — nearly sixty times face. The figure is the seller’s asking price, not an auction result and not the value of an ordinary 10,000-peso note.

La Pola, 1995, and an early serial

Pulzo places the piece in the 140 × 70 mm paper family that the Bank Note Museum numbers Pick 444 for the 1995 dates (Thomas de la Rue; bicentenary of Policarpa’s birth). The Banco de la República (opens in a new tab) says that family entered circulation on 30 November 1995. This note does not publish a printage for that date or this serial: a BanRep year total for the denomination is not the issue of one example. The serial is not in Notofilia’s virtual collection.

Serial 00000676 — eight digits, with leading zeros — is early: Pulzo places it among the first 1,000 of the run. It is not a first-of-issue, a radar, or a solid. The listing describes it as uncirculated. Pulzo and the dealer call an older bank seal at upper left “Logo Granada,” later replaced on subsequent printings. This note does not verify the seal or the grade on example 00000676.

Holding an “old” 10,000-peso note does not, by itself, mean COP 580,000: interest depends on grade, authenticity, variety, and whether a buyer appears. Pulzo notes that age alone does not set a price.
