El Diario NY reprises the 1969-S doubled-die cent

El Diario NY (Raúl Rodríguez Cota, 13 September 2026) returns to the 1969 Lincoln cent struck at San Francisco with a doubled die obverse error. The headline says more than US$600,000; the body cites SD Bullion with a range of US$38,500 to US$605,000. The coin is not in Notofilia’s virtual collection. This is not a new find: it is the same variety we already covered, with this paper’s 26 August figures, in The 1969-S doubled-die cent.

Not a second object

A second press serial does not create a second specimen. El Diario NY, citing AL.com, stresses that the year 1969 and the S mintmark are not enough: the visible obverse doubling is required. It now cites Stack’s Bowers with 50 to 60 known — the same band as WKRC on 10 September; on 26 August this paper had attributed 40 to 50 to the same firm. We leave both bands in view. SD Bullion’s floor also shifts: US$38,500 here, against US$31,500 in the August and WKRC notes. The US$605,000 ceiling holds. This note does not publish hammers; the August roundup did cite Stack’s Bowers sales.
