Serial ★25885207B falls in that span. The BEP delivered Series 1935 through 1935D between November 1935 and October 1953; that window is not the date of this example. This record does not publish an official star total for Series 1935C alone.

The note

The blue-seal Series 1935C $1 Silver Certificate with a star (P#416c; Friedberg 1612★; Numista N#201793) is United States Treasury paper, not a Federal Reserve Note. It is not this collection’s blue-seal Series 1935A $1, Fr. 1608, serial V94411136B, the S experimental Fr. 1610, serial S74796042C, the HAWAII Fr. 2300, serial S40499058C, or the yellow-seal Fr. 2306 notes, serials B52497547C and C78095129C. The signatures are William Alexander Julian, Treasurer, and John W. Snyder, Secretary of the Treasury: that pairing is Fr. 1612 and its star, Fr. 1612★. The black face on cream paper carries George Washington in an oval, the legend SILVER CERTIFICATE, a large 1 at left, and, at right, the blue circular Treasury seal over WASHINGTON, D.C. The text certifies a deposit in the Treasury and, at the bottom, the obligation “ONE DOLLAR / IN SILVER PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND.” At left it notes that the certificate is legal tender. Blue serials ★ 25885207 B repeat at lower left and upper right (★–B block). The replacement star stands where a prefix letter would; the final B is the block letter, not a Federal Reserve district. There is no overprint. The printed series, SERIES 1935 C, sits beside the Secretary. Plate position G is read at upper left; the face-plate marking G5965 sits in the lower-right margin. The green back shows a central ONE, the unfinished pyramid and the Eye of Providence at left — ANNUIT COEPTIS, NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM, and MDCCLXXVI — and the eagle with E PLURIBUS UNUM at right. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST is absent. Back plate 4088 sits below the lettering, toward the right. Numista separates the ordinary 1935C issue from the ★/B and ★/C replacements; this piece is the ★–B replacement, not the ordinary issue and not the ★–C block. The photographs show circulation folds, paper toning, worn corners, and small edge splits. No numerical grade is assigned from the photographs: paper body, washing, and repairs cannot be read with certainty from the image. This collection piece, circulated and unslabbed, is documented by those photographs.

Star replacement

Series 1935C changes the signature pair to Julian–Snyder. John W. Snyder was Secretary of the Treasury from 1946 to 1953: the printed series is the issue designation, not the year ★25885207B was numbered. The photographs do not fix the printing date of this example. USPaperMoney places deliveries of Series 1935 through 1935D between November 1935 and October 1953, and notes that series were mixed before numbering.

The star marks a replacement note, used to stand in for a faulty piece pulled in manufacture; it is not itself a printing error. On the small-size silver certificate the star opens the number and the final letter names the block. The back keeps both faces of the Great Seal, without IN GOD WE TRUST: that motto reaches the $1 with Series 1957, which in this collection is Fr. 1621, serial S35513454A. Redemption in silver ended in 1968; the paper remains legal tender at face value. This page is the documented Fr. 1612★ example: serial ★25885207B, not a type illustration.

Scarcity and printage

Fr. 1612★ is the star of the blue-seal Series 1935C $1, Julian–Snyder signatures. Numista records it as P#416c, a ★/B replacement, apart from the ordinary issue and the ★/C replacement. The counter 25885207 is ordinary: not a low serial, not a radar, and not binary. The star identifies the replacement; it does not make the number a fancy serial. USPaperMoney gives those stars an approximate span that opens at ★12 and closes at ★49, and leaves the series transitions unfixed. That span is not an official total. This record does not republish prices and does not publish a certified census.

Population

A PMG or PCGS census for serial ★25885207B has not been independently verified, nor has an earlier auction appearance of this serial. A grading-service census would count certified submissions, not every surviving example. The note is shown unslabbed.
