Notafilia
Notaphily is the study and collecting of paper money: banknotes, certificates, vouchers, and related paper. It does not replace numismatics, which covers struck coin; it stands beside it. At Notofilia the notaphily case gathers independence issues, free banking, central-bank series, specimens, errors, and fancy serials. Scrip and MPC enter because they are payment paper, not because they are federal legal tender. The Colombian student ticket is documented as transport paper, not as a BanRep Pick.
The discipline’s vocabulary — obverse, reverse, watermark, serial, issuer, print run, specimen, remainder — lives in this glossary. A Pick identifies the type; the serial identifies the object. Confusing type and example is the amateur’s most expensive error. This collection does not sell: records cite sources (González White, Hernández, Friedberg, Haxby, Schwan, The Banknote Book) without republishing price columns or protected plates.
Anyone who enters through the Riohacha 5 pesos, the Victory 20-peso note, or the Churchill £5 is in notaphily. Anyone who enters through the Utrecht ducat or the Santa Marta cuartillo is in numismatics. The site keeps both doors. The glossary term is the working definition, not a slogan: paper, sources, and one serial per piece.
Notaphily in this collection is bilingual and has no counter. Each piece has an ES and EN route, canonical and hreflang, and a serial or a no-serial reason. The two-tier glossary keeps long articles on their own URLs and folds the rest into the index, precisely so that discipline is not diluted by hundreds of hollow pages. The paper is studied; it is not priced here.
